What Towardia is

Towardia is a free plain-language guide to milk, wine, olives and spirits: where things come from, how they are made and how they are connected. The website is available in nine languages.

How each page is built

• Our own words. We do not copy other people's texts; we explain each concept in plain language.
• Up to five questions and answers — the things people most often want to know.
• At least two sources. The first is always a primary source: legislation, a standard or official statistics.
• A verification date — when we last checked the page against its sources.

How we check facts

1. Primary sources come first. Definitions, requirements and figures are taken from legislation, standards and official statistics.
2. Wikipedia is only a supplementary source. It helps us find primary sources but is never the sole basis for a statement.
3. Sources are shown on the page. Every source is cited so that you can check our work yourself.
4. The same facts in every language. Texts in all nine languages are prepared from the same sources.

Independence

We do not sell rankings, we do not accept payment for mentions and we do not show advertising. Mentioning a producer, brand or product is not advertising or a recommendation.

Corrections

If you notice a mistake, write to fenix [at] ava.com.ua (temporary address; replace [at] with @). Please include the page address, what is wrong and, if possible, a source. We will review your message, correct the error and note the date of the correction.

About alcohol

On pages about wine and spirits we describe production, history and rules; we do not encourage drinking. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there is no safe level of alcohol consumption. Learn more on the Health and alcohol page.
