🍷 Back label
A label on the back of the bottle with more details.
A back label is a sticker on the reverse side of a bottle. It complements the main label and carries detailed information about the wine. The front label usually shows the wine's name, producer, vintage and region. The back label gives what did not fit: a story of the estate, grape varieties, how it was aged, a description of the taste and tips on what to serve it with. Importer details, the bottle volume, alcohol content and a barcode are also often shown here. Some information is required by law. In Europe the label must state that the wine contains sulphites as a possible allergen. In several countries warnings are given about alcohol and pregnancy and about driving. Instead of text, a QR code is sometimes put on the back label. The back label is one element of the wine label. It helps the buyer compare bottles and understand what is inside before opening the wine.
