UNESCO heritage ✔ Checked: 10.2026 · sources: 5 Updated:

A Swiss winegrowers' festival held once a generation; on the UNESCO heritage list.

The Fête des Vignerons in Vevey is a Swiss winegrowers' festival held in the town of Vevey on the shore of Lake Geneva. It takes place rarely, about once a generation, that is every 20–25 years. The most recent big festival was in 2019. It is organised by a winegrowers' brotherhood that has existed since long ago.

The festival includes a theatre show, music, dance and a parade. Thousands of participants perform in the arena, many of them local residents. It shows the winegrower's work through the year: pruning, vine care and harvest. The tradition is on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage.

Near Vevey lie the terraced vineyards of Lavaux, also a World Heritage site. The festival belongs to the wider group of wine harvest festivals held in wine regions, but it is one of the largest and rarest examples.
