☕ Mug
Coffee and cocoa with milk.
A mug is a cup with one handle, usually bigger than an ordinary teacup and used without a saucer. It holds about 250–350 ml. People drink hot drinks from mugs: coffee with milk, cocoa, tea.
Mugs have been around for a very long time. At first they were made of wood and clay. Metal mugs appeared around 2000 BC. When porcelain was invented in China, people began making thin and beautiful mugs. Today they are made of earthenware, porcelain, ceramics, glass, enamel or steel. Light metal mugs that do not break are handy for camping.
A mug keeps drinks warm well. Thick walls cool down more slowly, and the handle keeps you from burning your fingers. A mug is less “formal” than a cup and saucer. People use mugs at home, at work and on the go. For takeaway coffee there are mugs with lids and double walls.
