🥃 Vikingfjord Ice Shot
Vikingfjord sweetened shot line on potato spirit: Pure and flavoured versions; 18–20% ABV, so it is no longer vodka.
Vikingfjord Ice Shot is a line of weaker, sweetened drinks from the Vikingfjord brand, served chilled as a shot. It is no longer vodka: the strength is 18–20% ABV depending on the version. The main version, Ice Shot Pure, is neutral with a slight sweetness; there are also versions with fruit flavours.
The base is the same as Vikingfjord vodka: potato spirit and water from Norway, produced by Arcus. According to Vinmonopolet, Pure contains 25 g of sugar per litre, while the berry Blueberry and Raspberry versions contain 140–150 g/l, so they are classed as fruit liqueurs. The Tax Free Norway chain sells the Cactus Blossom & Lime version at 20% ABV, with mint and lime aromas.
Why this matters to you. Ice Shot does not replace Vikingfjord Vodka: it is about half as strong and much sweeter, and strength and sugar differ between versions and bottling years. Vinmonopolet already lists the berry versions as no longer delivered, so check the label. WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
