🥃 Fettercairn 24 Year Old
The oldest permanent Fettercairn core-range whisky since 2024: 24 years in bourbon casks, without chill filtration or colouring; 46.5% ABV.
Fettercairn 24 Year Old is the oldest whisky in the permanent core range of the Fettercairn distillery. According to Drinks Intel, it appeared in April 2024, when the brand updated its range ahead of its 200th anniversary and replaced the 22-year-old. Its strength is 46.5% ABV; according to the official website, it is not chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The whisky is made from barley malt and matured for 24 years in American white oak bourbon casks, like the rest of the updated range, according to Whisky Magazine. The brand links the tropical character of its whisky to the cooling ring on the stills, and says that long maturation strengthens this character. The producer describes the taste as guava, mango, honey and red liquorice.
Why this matters to you. Compared with Fettercairn 16 Year Old, it has eight more years of maturation at almost the same strength. Do not confuse it with the 25-year-old, which is sold only in duty-free shops. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe amount of alcohol.
