🥃 Royal Salute 21 Year Old Malts Blend
The first blended malt whisky of Royal Salute (2019): over 21 single malt whiskies from five Scottish regions, each at least 21 years old; 40% ABV.
Royal Salute 21 Year Old Malts Blend is the first blended malt whisky of the Royal Salute brand. It was released in July 2019, and Scotchwhisky.com calls it a lasting addition to the 21-year-old range. The strength is 40% ABV, and each component is at least 21 years old.
Unlike the classic blend, this one contains no grain whisky: only more than 21 single malt whiskies from five regions of Scotland. The blend was put together by master blender Sandy Hislop. The whisky is bottled in an emerald porcelain flask, while Signature Blend uses a blue one. Tasters describe peaches in syrup, orchard fruit, boiled sweets and soft spices.
Why it matters to you. Compare it with Royal Salute 21 Year Old Signature Blend: the age is the same, but Malts Blend is purely malt, so it is usually richer and fruitier. Look for the words Malts Blend on the label and the emerald colour of the flask. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
