🥃 Blanton's Original Single Barrel
The core Blanton's expression: single barrel bourbon at 93 proof (46.5% ABV), Mash Bill #2, aged in Warehouse H at Buffalo Trace.
Blanton's Original Single Barrel is the main expression of the Blanton's brand, a single barrel bourbon. It is made at the Buffalo Trace distillery and bottled at 93 proof, that is 46.5% ABV. According to Gear Patrol, it is the only Blanton's expression that has always been sold in the USA.
According to Buffalo Trace, the whiskey is made from Mash Bill #2 and aged in Warehouse H, the only metal-clad warehouse at the distillery, where temperatures swing more widely. No age is stated on the bottle. Every bottle is filled by hand from a single barrel, and the label records the date that barrel was dumped.
Why this matters to you. Original is the reference point for the other expressions: Special Reserve is lower in strength (80 proof), Gold Edition is stronger (103 proof), and Straight From The Barrel is not diluted at all. Bottles from different barrels taste slightly different. Compare them by strength, not by the figurine on the stopper. The WHO reminds us: no level of alcohol consumption is safe.
