🥃 Blanton's Straight From The Barrel
The barrel-strength Blanton's: from a single barrel, with no added water and no filtration; the strength differs from barrel to barrel.
Blanton's Straight From The Barrel is the strongest expression of the Blanton's brand. The bourbon is bottled straight from a single barrel, without being diluted with water or filtered. That is why the strength changes every time: the Buffalo Trace page shows 133.7 proof, Gear Patrol gives 128 proof, and the bottle in The Whiskey Shelf's review was 64.6% ABV.
Like the rest of the range, the whiskey is made at Buffalo Trace from Mash Bill #2. No age is stated on the bottle; Gear Patrol mentions six to eight years, but the producer does not confirm this. According to Gear Patrol, this expression is sold mainly in overseas markets and is easiest to find in Japan.
Why this matters to you. Compare Straight From The Barrel with Gold Edition (103 proof) and Original (93 proof): the difference lies in dilution with water, and therefore in strength. This expression is often tasted with a few drops of water added. The WHO reminds us: no level of alcohol consumption is safe.
