Božkov Republica Exclusive is the first cane rum from the Božkov brand. Stock Plzeň-Božkov launched it in February 2018. It is a blend of Caribbean rums aged up to eight years, with cane sugar added. The strength is 38% ABV, according to the producer and the RumX database.
According to MediaGuru, the rum for the blend comes from Caribbean countries, but no specific countries are named. RumX lists molasses as the raw material. Tasters describe caramel, vanilla and a clear sweetness. The name and label of the line refer to the era of the First Czechoslovak Republic. The Republica line was later joined by the older rum Reserva and by drinks with coffee and honey flavours.
Why this matters to you. Unlike the tuzemák Božkov Originál, this is a rum made from cane-based raw material rather than a flavoured spirit. Compare it with Božkov Republica Reserva, which is stronger, older and drier. Because of the added sugar, Exclusive tastes sweeter than many other rums, so read the label.
