Italian spirits group headquartered in Sesto San Giovanni (Milan); founded in 1860; more than 50 brands, including Aperol, Campari and Courvoisier.

Campari Group is an Italian spirits group headquartered in Sesto San Giovanni, Milan. According to the group, it was founded in 1860, the year Gaspare Campari invented the red aperitif Campari in Milan.

History. From 1888 his son Davide Campari developed the brand internationally and in 1932 created the first single-serve aperitif, Campari Soda. The group says it was a single-brand company as late as 1995 and then grew through acquisitions. Shares of the parent company, Davide Campari-Milano N.V., have been listed on the Italian Stock Exchange since 2001.

Portfolio. According to the group's 2025 corporate presentation, it has more than 50 brands sold in over 190 markets, about 5,000 employees and 25 production plants. The brands are organised in four Houses of Brands: Aperitifs, Whiskey & Rum, Agave, and Cognac & Champagne. They include Aperol, Campari, Cynar, Skyy, Grand Marnier, Wild Turkey, The Glen Grant, Appleton Estate and Courvoisier.

Courvoisier. On 30 April 2024 the group completed the acquisition of 100% of Beam Holdings France, which owns the Courvoisier brand, from Beam Suntory; the agreement was signed on 26 February 2024.

Why this matters to you. Campari is both an aperitif and a group that owns many other drinks; they share an owner but have their own production rules. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
