🥃 Courvoisier XO Royal
Courvoisier line from Fins Bois de Jarnac and Grande Champagne; 40% ABV per The Luxe Review.
Courvoisier XO Royal is a relatively new line of the Courvoisier cognac house. According to the brand's website, it was inspired by the cognacs served at European courts: King Edward VII ordered his own blend, and the sixth chief blender, Patrice Pinet, recreated it from bottles in the Paradis cellar at Jarnac. According to The Luxe Review, its strength is 40% ABV.
Production. It is a combination of Fins Bois de Jarnac and Grande Champagne. The brand describes a dark amber colour, an aroma of truffle and summer flowers, and a taste of toasted hazelnut, honey and cinnamon, with a long finish. The age of the spirits is not officially stated; The Luxe Review only notes that the facets on the stopper symbolise the maximum age in the blend. It is a permanent line, not a limited edition.
Why this matters to you. XO Royal differs from X.O in its crus and its history, so do not treat it as just another XO. The X.O designation guarantees at least 10 years for the youngest spirit. Check the name on the label. The WHO reminds us that no level of alcohol is safe.
