🥃 Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye
A Canadian whisky from Crown Royal made from a mash that is 90% rye, 45% ABV, no age statement; matured in Gimli.
Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye is an expression of the Crown Royal brand made from a mash in which 90% is rye. The producer bottles it at 45% ABV and describes it as a Canadian whisky with notes of baked goods, grain and light wood. There is no age statement on the bottle.
According to Difford's Guide, the whisky is made and matured in Gimli, Manitoba, on the shore of Lake Winnipeg, where temperatures range from about minus 30 to plus 30 degrees Celsius. Apart from the rye share, the composition and casks are not disclosed. According to The Whiskey Wash's review, the taste brings orange, oat toast, rye flour and moderate spice. The producer calls the taste gentle, with toffee and vanilla spice, and the finish smooth and creamy.
Why this matters to you. This is the most rye-driven expression of the core range: if Fine De Luxe seems too soft to you, compare it with this whisky, and with Black, which has the same strength. Compare them on the label. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
