🥃 Danzka Forty
Classic unflavoured Danzka vodka: 40% ABV, 100% whole grain, six distillation stages; aluminium bottle.
Danzka Forty is the core, classic vodka of the Danish brand Danzka, with no flavouring added. Its strength is 40% ABV, which is where the name Forty comes from; in trade reviews it is also called Danzka Original. Like the whole brand, it comes in the signature aluminium bottle that Danzka introduced in 1989.
According to Waldemar Behn, which has owned the brand since 2013, the vodka is made from 100% whole grain and soft Nordic water, and the spirit is distilled in six stages. The brand's website specifies a continuous process in six columns, using demineralised water. The maker says the aluminium bottle cools faster than glass and does not break in transit.
Why it matters to you. Forty is the starting point of the range: Danzka Fifty has the same base but 50% ABV, and Danzka Citrus, Danzka Currant and Danzka Cranraz are flavoured versions at 40% ABV. EU rules require at least 37.5% ABV for vodka, so Forty sits at the usual strength for the category. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
