📜 Musigny
A famous grand cru in Chambolle-Musigny with delicate red wines from Pinot Noir.
Musigny is a famous grand cru in the village of Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte de Nuits, Burgundy. The plot is small, about ten hectares. It lies on the slope above the village, next to another grand cru, Clos de Vougeot.
Red wine from Pinot Noir is made here. Musigny is considered the finest and most elegant of the Burgundy reds. It has the aroma of red berries, violets and spice, a silky texture and gentle tannin. It is not powerful but rather airy, yet very long on the palate.
A very small part of the plot also makes white wine from Chardonnay. It is rare, rich and very expensive.
Musigny is a grand cru, the highest level of the Burgundy classification. Like all grands crus it is still and needs ageing. Wine from good years keeps for decades. It is often cited as an example of the elegance of Burgundy Pinot Noir.
