The northern part of the Côte d'Or with great red grands crus.

The Côte de Nuits is the northern part of the Côte d’Or wine area in Burgundy, France. It is a narrow strip of hills south of the city of Dijon, centred on the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Mostly Pinot Noir grows here, and the area is famous for its red wines.

On the slopes lie almost all the famous grand crus for red wine: Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Romanée-Conti, Richebourg, La Tâche, Clos Saint-Denis and others. Villages gave them their names: Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée, Morey-Saint-Denis and Nuits-Saint-Georges.

The soils are limestone and marl, and the vines grow on east-facing slopes, so the berries get plenty of morning sun. The wines are often delicate and complex, with notes of red berries, flowers and spice. The best age for decades.

The Côte de Nuits belongs to Burgundy. It is one of the most studied and most expensive areas in the world for Pinot Noir. Alcohol is for adults.
