🗺️ Polish wine
The country's wine and winemaking: regions, grapes, appellations.
Polish wine is wine made in Poland. The country is small in wine output, but interest is growing and vineyards are appearing in many parts of it.
The climate is cool, so mostly cold- and disease-resistant grapes are grown, and the wines are often light with good acidity. Viticulture is concentrated in several regions: Lubusz near Zielona Góra, Lower Silesia, Lesser Poland, Subcarpathia near Jasło, Lublin Voivodeship near Kazimierz Dolny and Świętokrzyskie near Sandomierz. These areas belong to the wines of Europe, like those of neighbouring countries.
Many estates are small and family-run. Output may be dry, off-dry, sparkling or sweet. Polish wines are rarely exported and are mostly bought locally. Viticulture in the country can be seen as a young industry that is still building experience and tradition.
