Rustichella d'Abruzzo ZeroTre is an organic line for children from birth to three years old; the name means 'zero–three'. According to the company, its aim is to introduce the principles of the Mediterranean diet from early childhood.
The pastina is made from semolina of organically grown durum wheat; the company points out that it contains more protein than soft wheat. Some of the pastine are made from 100% Italian wheat with 35% organic fruit or vegetable purée, so that children get vitamins and nutrients from foods they often refuse to eat on their own. In the shop, the ZeroTre section groups classic, wholegrain, fruit and vegetable pastine; the line also includes sauces, extra virgin olive oil and biscuits.
Small pastina shapes cook quickly and are served in broth or with a drizzle of olive oil and grated Parmesan.
