🍷 Wine shop
A shop that sells wine and helps you choose.
A wine shop is a shop that sells wine and advises what to choose. Unlike an ordinary supermarket, wine is the main thing here and the seller knows the range well. They can tell you about a region, a grape and food pairings, and pick a bottle for your budget.
In different countries such shops go by different names. In France there is the caviste, the owner and adviser in one person. In Italy there is the enoteca, where wine can be bought and sometimes tasted. In some countries, such as Sweden or Norway, wine is sold only in state-run shops. The buyer's age is checked as required by law, usually 18 or 21.
Good shops keep bottles lying down, cool and out of direct light so the wine does not spoil. The same rule is useful at home. A buyer should look at the label: country, region, year, grape and strength. When choosing wine there is no need to chase a high price: a bottle at a moderate price is often just as good.
