An Alsace grand cru near the village of Gueberschwihr, known for Gewürztraminer and Muscat.

Alsace Grand Cru Goldert is a grand cru of Alsace in France near the village of Gueberschwihr in the Haut-Rhin department. This is the name for the very best vineyards of the region. The site is known for Gewürztraminer and Muscat.

Alsace lies in the shadow of the Vosges mountains, so the climate is dry and sunny. On the slopes of Goldert berries ripen well. They make still white wines, from dry to sweet. Gewürztraminer from Goldert smells of rose, lychee and spices, while Muscat gives a light floral aroma. Riesling and Pinot Gris also grow here.

The appellation is a protected designation of origin (PDO). As with all Alsace grand crus, the name of the site is shown on the label. Goldert can be compared with other Alsace grands crus: each has its own character. Wines from such places usually keep well and open up with age. They suit spicy food and hard cheeses.
