Bladnoch Alinta is the only peated expression of the Classic Collection from the Bladnoch distillery. According to The Whiskey Wash, it joined the range in 2022 as the first smoky whisky of the core lineup. The strength is 47% ABV, according to The Whiskey Wash and WhiskyNotes. It has no age statement.
The distillery makes its peated spirit in a small annual campaign, so bottles are few. According to WhiskyNotes, the blend combines first-fill bourbon cask whisky, about 12 years old, with Pedro Ximénez sherry cask whisky, about 4 years old; the stated peat level is 60 ppm. Sweet sherry softens the smoke, while bourbon casks add vanilla. WhiskyNotes notes that it is not known whether the blend also contains unpeated spirit.
Why this matters to you. Lowland whisky is mostly unpeated, so Alinta is an exception both for the region and for the brand. For comparison, Bladnoch Vinaya shows the same house without smoke. The WHO reminds: there is no safe level of alcohol.
