Classic Collection expression from Bladnoch since 2022: bourbon and new oak casks; distiller's strength 52.2% ABV.

Bladnoch Liora is the youngest member of the Bladnoch Classic Collection, introduced in 2022. It differs from its neighbours in strength: according to Drinks International and WhiskyNotes, it is bottled at 52.2% ABV. The brand calls this “distiller's strength”, higher than the usual 46–47%. The name has Hebrew origins and means “gift of light”.

The whisky is made from barley malt. According to Drinks International, Liora combines bourbon casks with new oak casks that had never held anything before. New oak gives more vanilla, caramel and spice. The whisky is bottled without chill filtration and without colouring, so it may turn slightly cloudy when chilled. It has no age statement, so the bottle combines whiskies of different ages.

Why this matters to you. Compared with Bladnoch Vinaya, it has higher strength and no sherry, so the taste is richer; a few drops of water will open it up. Bladnoch Alinta is the smoky variant of the same range. The WHO reminds: there is no safe level of alcohol.
