Crystal Head Onyx is a line of Crystal Head Vodka based on blue Weber agave from a single farm in Mexico. Its strength is 40% ABV according to The Shout. The producer calls it the first commercial agave vodka; this is the producer's own claim.
According to The Shout, the vodka is diluted with water from Newfoundland and filtered through more than ten thousand Herkimer diamond crystals. The producer describes notes of agave, citrus, green herbs and white pepper, and states that there are no additives. We found no independent reviews of Onyx in the open sources we checked, so treat the taste description with care and compare it with Original and Aurora yourself.
Why this matters to you. Onyx differs from Original and Aurora in its raw material: agave instead of grain, as in tequila. But it is a vodka, not a tequila, and should not be confused with agave spirits. The WHO reminds us that no level of alcohol consumption is safe for health.
