🥃 Finlandia Classic
Finlandia's core vodka: Finnish, barley-based, 40 % vol., made since 1970, not charcoal filtered and with no additives.
Finlandia Classic is the core expression of the Finlandia brand: a pure barley vodka at 40 % vol. The brand page calls it Classic, while Difford's Guide simply lists it as Finlandia Vodka. It was launched in 1970 in a bottle designed by Tapio Wirkkala; according to Difford's Guide, it is not charcoal filtered and contains no additives.
The base is six-row Finnish barley. The spirit is distilled continuously at Koskenkorva, then taken by rail to Rajamäki, where it is diluted with glacial spring water. The water is so clean that it needs only a mechanical filter to remove visible particles; the company protects about 12 square kilometres of forest around the wells.
Why this matters to you. Classic is the brand's benchmark: it is the easiest reference point for Finlandia Platinum, which is additionally passed through birch wood chips, and for the flavoured versions such as Grapefruit Fusion and Cranberry, whose strength may differ. The WHO reminds us: there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
