🥃 GlenDronach 21 Year Old Parliament
The oldest core line of The GlenDronach: 21 years, 48% ABV, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, not chill-filtered.
GlenDronach 21 Year Old Parliament is the oldest core line of the Highland single malt The GlenDronach, at 48% ABV. According to Whisky Advocate and The Whiskey Wash, its age is 21 years. Tasting notes mention sweet sherry, leather, walnut, clove, pepper and dark chocolate.
According to both sources, it matures in Spanish casks that held Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry. Whisky Advocate adds that the whisky is not chill-filtered, and The Whiskey Wash writes about malted barley with no other grains. The cask mix and taste may vary a little between batches, so check the label. The line is meant for slow tasting in small measures.
Why this matters to you. The higher age and 48% ABV make the taste denser than in the 18-year Allardice. Compare it with that line and with the 15-year Revival to understand how age and cask mix change the profile. The WHO reminds us: there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
