🥃 Grey Goose Le Citron
The Grey Goose Le Citron line: a flavoured vodka with lemon essences (Menton) on a wheat vodka base; 30 or 40% ABV.
Grey Goose Le Citron is the lemon-flavoured vodka of the Grey Goose brand, made on the basis of Grey Goose Vodka. According to the brand it appeared in 2003; the flavour comes from natural lemon essences, including from Menton. According to the producer, the strength is 30 or 40% ABV depending on the product and market.
Production. Difford's Guide describes two components: Menton lemons are washed, cut into eight segments and steeped for two weeks, while essential oils from lemons from Argentina and Brazil are distilled twice under vacuum. The components are mixed, and the final blend is made at the brand's facility in Cognac. The nose is lemon zest and lemon pie; the taste is clean and fresh, with a light bitterness.
Why it matters for you. For a lemon accent choose Le Citron, and compare it with L'Orange (orange) and La Poire (pear). It is a flavoured vodka in EU category 31, not a liqueur. Check the percentage on the label, as it differs between markets. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
