🥃 Grey Goose Vodka
The core Grey Goose expression: an unflavoured French vodka made from winter wheat and spring water; 40% ABV; single distillation.
Grey Goose Vodka is the core line of the French brand Grey Goose: an unflavoured vodka made from soft winter wheat from Picardy and spring water. According to the producer and Difford's Guide it is 40% ABV, with no sugar, flavourings or other additives. All of the brand's flavoured versions are built on this base.
Production. The wheat spirit is distilled once in columns (the producer describes stainless steel and copper columns, Difford's Guide describes a five-column process). Water comes from the company's own well in Gensac-la-Pallue, is filtered through limestone, and the blend is made in the Cognac region. The producer describes a floral nose, a sweet rounded taste and a toffee finish; Difford's Guide describes a clean, slightly grainy taste with black pepper and a faint note of anise.
Why it matters for you. If you want a neutral taste without added essences, choose this line rather than L'Orange, Le Citron, La Poire or Essences. The Cognac region on the label does not mean a grape spirit: the base is wheat. EU Regulation 2019/787 requires vodka to be at least 37.5% ABV. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
