🥃 Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition
Jameson line: standard blend finished for 4–6 months in casks where Irish stout matured; 40% ABV, since 2015.
Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is a Jameson blend that is additionally finished in casks where Irish stout once matured. According to Difford’s Guide, the general release began in September 2015. It is bottled at 40% ABV with no age statement; the base is the same blend as Original.
American whiskey casks, which had already held Jameson twice, are sent to the Franciscan Well brewery in Cork, where stout matures in them for about three months. The casks are then returned, filled with whiskey and kept for another four to six months. The base is the same blend as Jameson Original; the tagline is “triple distilled, once stouted”.
Why it matters for you. This edition gives more chocolate and coffee notes than Original, but it is not a beer drink or a liqueur: it remains whiskey at 40% ABV. Compare it with the IPA Edition, which has a more citrus profile. WHO reminds us: there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
