🥃 Blenders Pride Reserve Collection
Senior version of Blenders Pride since 2011: Indian grain spirit and Scotch malts matured in European and American casks, 40% ABV.
Blenders Pride Reserve Collection is the senior version of the Indian whisky brand Blenders Pride. According to Pernod Ricard, it was launched in 2011. Its strength is 40% ABV, lower than the base Blenders Pride Rare Premium. No age is stated on the label.
According to the producer, it is a blend of Scotch malt whiskies with Indian grain spirit. As FoodTechBiz reported, citing Pernod Ricard India, the malts matured in selected European and American oak casks, and the blend was made by master blender Kevin Balmforth. According to the same report, between July 2022 and June 2023 this version exceeded one million cases for the first time and accounted for more than 11% of the brand’s volume.
Why this matters for you. Compare it with Rare Premium: here the strength is different and the malts are selected separately, but the base is the same neutral spirit. So it is not a Scotch whisky, and in the EU a drink like this does not automatically fall under the “whisky” category. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
