🥃 Grand Marnier Grande Cuvée Révélation
Grand Marnier line on XXO cognac: 68 eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne aged at least 14 years; 40% ABV.
Grand Marnier Grande Cuvée Révélation is a Grand Marnier line in which there is more cognac than orange. According to the producer, it is a blend of XXO cognac with a touch of orange essence; it contains 68 eaux-de-vie, all from Grande Champagne and aged at least 14 years. Difford's Guide gives its strength as 40% ABV.
Production. Difford's Guide calls it the most cognac-like drink in the range: its sugar content is over 100 g/l, clearly less than in Cordon Rouge. The producer describes the colour as medium amber with copper tones, and the aroma as bitter orange with wood, tobacco and plum; the palate shows wood and tobacco notes, nuts and soft vanilla. The producer suggests drinking it neat or on ice, and rubbing the rim of the glass with orange zest.
Why it matters to you. Révélation is closer to a cognac with a note of orange than to a classic orange liqueur, so it is superfluous in cocktails and desserts. Compare it with Centenaire and Quintessence by age and composition of the spirits. The sources do not give a launch year. The WHO reminds us that no level of alcohol consumption is safe.
