Spirit line ✔ Checked: 10.2026 · sources: 4 Updated:

Grand Marnier line on XO cognac from Grande and Petite Champagne, created in 1927; 40% ABV; 82% cognac.

Grand Marnier Cuvée du Centenaire is an orange liqueur line blended from XO cognacs, mainly from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. Louis-Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle created it in 1927 for the centenary of the family business, founded in 1827. According to Difford's Guide, its strength is 40% ABV, and the blend contains 82% cognac.

Production. According to the producer, it was at first given only to family, friends and clients. It matures in Tronçais oak casks at the Grand Marnier estate in Bourg-Charente. Difford's Guide says the cognacs are on average 12 to 25 years old, sometimes up to 30, and each batch rests for at least two years in large oak casks. The sugar content is 237 g/l, more than in Cordon Rouge. The producer describes the taste as candied orange with notes of light tobacco and balsam.

Why it matters to you. Centenaire is one of the oldest blends in the core collection, so the producer recommends drinking it neat from a tasting glass. Compare it with Cordon Rouge and Louis-Alexandre by cognac share. Its strength is the same as the younger lines. The WHO reminds us that no level of alcohol consumption is safe.
