📜 Rully
A Côte Chalonnaise village with white and red wines.
Rully is a village and appellation in the Côte Chalonnaise, a part of Burgundy south of the famous Côte d'Or. It is a small zone where white and red wines are made, as well as sparkling ones. The village lies near the town of Chagny.
The white wines are made from Chardonnay. They are fresh, with notes of apple, citrus and white flowers, and sometimes a slight nutty hint after ageing in barrels. The reds are made from Pinot Noir: light, red-fruited, with soft tannins. Part of the wine goes into sparkling wine by the traditional method, sold as Crémant de Bourgogne.
Rully has many plots with the status of "premier cru". These are the best vineyards of the village. Prices here are usually more accessible than in the more famous villages of the north, so Rully is valued for its balance of price and quality.
The name is protected as a PDO, a protected designation of origin. It belongs to the Côte Chalonnaise district. All the wines are still, except the sparkling ones.
