Spirit line ✔ Checked: 10.2026 · sources: 6 Updated:

The oldest core expression of The Singleton of Dufftown: 18 years, bourbon and sherry casks; 40% ABV.

The Singleton of Dufftown 18 Year Old is the oldest expression in the permanent range of The Singleton of Dufftown from Dufftown distillery in Speyside, according to Whiskynotes and Whisky for Everyone. Diageo's official website sells it in a set together with the 12- and 15-year-old. Strength: 40% ABV, according to Whiskymonkeys.

The whisky is made from malted barley. According to Whiskymonkeys, it is matured in refill bourbon casks and in casks that held Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry; other sources do not specify the casks. Whiskymonkeys describes the aroma as baked apple, berries, roasted nuts, caramel and a faint hint of pine, and the taste as vanilla, biscuits and light spice.

Why this matters to you. Compared with the 12-year-old, the strength is the same, so the richer taste comes from longer maturation. Versions without an age statement, such as Tailfire or Sunray, are separate whiskies, so check the age on the label. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
