🥃 Dalmore 15 Year Old
15-year-old single malt Scotch from The Dalmore; 40% ABV; bourbon casks and a finish in three types of sherry casks.
Dalmore 15 Year Old is a 15-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from The Dalmore at 40% ABV. According to Difford's Guide, it was released in 2007. Compared with the 12-year-old version, it has a longer maturation and an extra stage in sherry casks, so its taste is usually richer.
According to Difford's Guide, for about 12 years the whisky matures in American white oak casks that once held bourbon, followed by three further years in sherry casks of three types: Amoroso, Apostoles and Matusalem. The spirits from different casks are then combined and rested in a sherry cask before bottling. It is produced at the Alness distillery in the Highlands and owned by Whyte & Mackay.
Why this matters to you. Dalmore 15 is easiest to compare with the 12- and 18-year-old versions: the main differences are time in sherry and strength. The age on the label refers to the youngest whisky in the bottle. Check the cask and strength details with the producer before choosing. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
