🥃 Cruzan Single Barrel Rum
Premium Cruzan rum: a blend of rums aged roughly 4–5 to 12–13 years that matures for about another year in a single barrel; 40% ABV.
Cruzan Single Barrel Rum is the premium version of the Cruzan brand. The name does not mean a rum from a single barrel from the start; it refers to a blend that matures in one barrel at the end. According to Difford's Guide, it is bottled at 40% ABV, and the label gives no age statement.
According to the brand, the blend contains rums aged 5 to 12 years, which then matures for about another year in a single barrel. Difford's Guide gives different figures: rums aged 4 to 13 years, first in ex-bourbon barrels of first fill, then for about ten months in a heavily toasted 55-gallon American oak barrel. According to Difford's Guide, the code on the bottle identifies the barrel.
Why this matters to you. It is one of the oldest permanent expressions in the Cruzan range, and it is recommended neat or on ice. Compared with Cruzan Aged Dark Rum, it has a longer maturation and a more noticeable oak influence. The WHO reminds: there is no safe amount of alcohol.
