🥃 Cruzan Aged Light Rum
Cruzan's core light rum: a blend of rums aged one to four years in ex-bourbon barrels, then filtered; 40% ABV.
Cruzan Aged Light Rum is a light rum from the core Cruzan range, made on the island of St. Croix. Despite its pale colour, it is an aged rum: a blend of rums between one and four years old. According to Difford's Guide, it is bottled at 40% ABV, and the label gives no age statement.
Like all Cruzan rum, it starts from sugar cane molasses distilled in column stills. According to the brand and Difford's Guide, the component rums mature in American oak barrels that previously held bourbon, and the blend is filtered before bottling. Filtration removes most of the colour, so the spirit looks almost clear, but the oak and vanilla aromas remain.
Why this matters to you. It is the lightest of the core Cruzan expressions; Cruzan Aged Dark Rum is aged longer in toasted barrels, so it is darker and richer. If you need a rum for cocktails such as a daiquiri, check the name on the label: Aged Light. The WHO reminds: there is no safe amount of alcohol.
