🥃 Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban
Glenmorangie line with a port cask finish; 46% ABV; the current version is 14 years old, previously 12 years.
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban is a single malt whisky from the Glenmorangie brand with a finish in port pipes, 46% ABV. Difford's Guide describes it as a dark, intense Highland whisky with no age statement. According to Whisky Advocate, the current version is 14 years old and replaced the 12-year-old, with strength left at 46% ABV.
First the whisky matures for at least ten years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. It is then finished in pipes with ruby port from Portuguese estates. According to Whisky Advocate, the new version has two more years of this finish than the previous one. “Quinta” means a wine estate in Portuguese, and “Ruban” refers to the ruby colour of port.
Why this matters to you. Quinta Ruban is darker and richer than The Original, because port adds its own character. Check the label: the sources give different age records, and releases have changed. The age on the label is that of the youngest whisky. The WHO reminds us: there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
