🥃 Powers Three Swallow
Irish single pot still whiskey from Powers, no age statement: bourbon casks, finish in oloroso sherry casks; 43.2% ABV.
Powers Three Swallow is an Irish single pot still whiskey from the Powers brand, without an age statement. Its strength is 43.2% ABV, per The Whiskey Wash and Whisky Advocate. It is the younger of the two single pot still whiskeys in the brand's permanent range. The name recalls the swallows that Powers once depicted as a mark of quality.
The whiskey is made at Midleton from malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in copper pot stills. According to IrishCentral, it matures in bourbon casks of the second and third fill and then receives a finish in oloroso sherry casks. It is bottled without chill filtration.
Why it matters to you. Three Swallow is a simple way to try a pure single pot still from Powers: unlike Powers Gold Label, it contains no grain whiskey. The older Powers John's Lane has 12 years of maturation and a higher strength. Redbreast has a similar style. WHO reminds that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
