🥃 Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal
Rémy Martin Fine Champagne cognac with no age statement, named after the 1738 royal permit; 40% ABV.
Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal is a Fine Champagne cognac with no age statement from the Rémy Martin house. The name recalls 1738, when King Louis XV allowed the house to plant new vineyards. According to Difford's Guide, the strength is 40% ABV, and the taste is richer and spicier than VSOP.
Production. Difford's Guide writes that the blend was created in 1997 by chief blender Georges Clo: 65% Grande Champagne and 35% Petite Champagne, from more than 240 spirits aged 4 to 20 years, averaging about 12. Compared with the Club line, the publication notes, the blend spends 6 to 8 months longer in new oak, which makes the taste richer. The house distils the wine on its lees and matures the spirits in Limousin oak.
Why this matters to you. 1738 sits between VSOP and XO: it is closer to XO in richness, but has no age designation. Compare it with VSOP and XO, and check the percentage on the label. The WHO reminds us: there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
