Saint Agur is a French blue cheese in an octagonal wheel, made in Beauzac in the Monts du Velay, Haute-Loire. It is a brand of the Savencia group, and its ripening takes place in the caves of the Beauzac dairy; according to the brand, nearly three months are needed for it to gain its blue taste and melting texture.
According to the brand, Saint Agur grew out of an observation: many consumers found other blue cheeses too strong, too crumbly and too sharp, and spread butter on their bread with them. Saint Agur was designed to be milder and more melting. It was first launched at the cut-cheese counter and later extended to self-service.
The brand lists 125 g and 190 g packs, 4 x 25 g portions, a 250 g family portion and a 2.3 kg cut format with 33 % fat in dry matter. Saint Agur Crème is made from real pieces of Saint Agur wheels and comes in 155 g and 250 g formats.
