Pyriatyn is a cheese brand of the Ukrainian dairy group Milk Alliance. Its cheeses are made at the Pyriatyn cheese plant in the town of Pyriatyn, Poltava region.
History. The plant was built in 1969–1973 and quickly became one of the industry's notable cheese makers. According to the owner, Milk Alliance began in 2000 with the purchase of several plants, which were merged into a holding headquartered in Kyiv in 2006. Today the group has five production sites and in 2025 made about 14,600 tonnes of cheese. The brand was redesigned in 2018.
Technology. The producer stresses that its cheese is made only from natural milk, without vegetable additives or milk powder. Besides cheese, the plant makes butter, fresh dairy products and dry demineralised whey.
Ranges. Hard cheeses are the largest group, sold by weight and pre-packed: Tradytsiinyi, Vershkovyi (cream), Gouda, Maasdam, Radomer, Walnut and the lighter Hratsiia. Most are Dutch-type cheeses close to gouda and maasdam; in international terms they are semi-hard cheeses. Processed cheeses include Yantarnyi, Vershkovyi, Korol Syriv with a baked-milk flavour, Yantar with mushrooms or ham, and Ukrainskyi. There is also a lactose-free hard cheese, Korol Syriv.
How to choose. Hard cheeses suit sandwiches, cheese boards and baking; processed cheeses suit toast, soups and sauces. Fat in dry matter and ingredients are on the label. The page Processed cheeses and cheese products explains how processed cheese differs from cheese products.
