Sargento Reserve Series
Sargento Reserve Series is the aged sliced cheese range of the Wisconsin brand Sargento: Aged White Cheddar and Aged Gouda.
Sargento Reserve Series is the aged sliced cheese range of Sargento, a family-owned company in Plymouth, Wisconsin (USA). These natural cheeses are matured longer than the brand's regular slices, so they have a fuller flavour; the official page does not state the exact ageing time.
There are two cheeses in the range. Aged White Cheddar is an aged white cheddar with no colouring, in packs of 10 slices. Aged Gouda is an aged Gouda in packs of 8 slices. Both are made from cow's milk; with age, cheddar becomes sharper and Gouda firmer, with caramel and nutty notes.
How to use it: in hot sandwiches and burgers, on crackers, in wraps and on a quick cheese board. Apples and ham go well with the cheddar, pears and nuts with the Gouda. Keep the slices in the fridge in the closed pack.
The brand also makes Sargento Sliced Cheese, Sargento Shredded Cheese and Sargento Snack Cheese. Aged cheddar and Gouda belong to the hard cheeses.
Why it matters to you: aged cheese in slices gives a sandwich more flavour without slicing or extra toppings.
