π Ansonica
A white grape of Sicily and Tuscany; in Sicily it is called Inzolia.
Ansonica is a white grape from Italy. It is grown in Sicily and Tuscany. In Sicily it is called Inzolia, while in Tuscany, on the island of Elba and along the Argentario coast, it is called Ansonica.
It is one of the long-known varieties of the Mediterranean. The vine likes warmth and dry summers, and the berries ripen well and give enough sugar.
In Sicily it makes both simple white wines and more serious ones. It goes into Marsala, the fortified wine of western Sicily, and also into Mamertino and Contessa Entellina. These are places and designations where the grape appears.
In Tuscany, for example in the Ansonica Costa dell'Argentario designation, the wines are fresh with notes of citrus and white flowers. Sometimes they get brief contact with the skins.
The grape belongs to Italian wine and to the general list of grape varieties.
