📜 Bourgogne Aligoté

Appellation ✔ Checked: 10.2026 · sources: 1 Updated:

A white Burgundy made from Aligoté.

Bourgogne Aligoté is a white wine from Burgundy in France, made from the Aligoté grape. It is one of the protected designations of origin (PDO). It covers vineyards across Burgundy where this grape grows.

Aligoté gives pale wines with high acidity, smelling of citrus, apple and herbs. They are simpler and fresher than Burgundy wines from Chardonnay. They are drunk young, often as an aperitif or with light snacks. The wines are still, and usually need little ageing.

Aligoté is linked to the well-known French cocktail "kir": a little blackcurrant liqueur is added to white wine. Traditionally Aligoté is used for it. This wine shows that Burgundy is not only expensive Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Bourgogne Aligoté belongs to the Burgundy region and stands beside other simple appellations. The grape also grows in other countries of Eastern Europe.
