π₯ Bulleit Rye
The Bulleit rye whiskey: 95 % rye and 5 % malted barley, 45 % ABV (90 proof), no age statement; released in March 2011.
Bulleit Rye is a rye whiskey from the Bulleit brand, released in March 2011. The mash is roughly 95 % rye and 5 % malted barley. It is bottled at 45 % ABV (90 proof) and carries no age statement. It is a separate spirit, not a variant of Bulleit Bourbon.
Production. The whiskey matures for at least four years in new charred American white oak barrels, and part of the blend reaches seven years, according to Difford's Guide. That source says it is distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, while Breaking Bourbon says it follows Bulleit's own specification. The profile is dry and spicy: tobacco, black pepper and a clear rye sharpness.
Why it matters to you. If you like dry spice, compare Bulleit Rye with Bulleit Bourbon, which has only 28 % rye, and with the ten-year rye whiskey. US rules require at least 51 % rye for a straight rye, and this one is far above that. The WHO reminds that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
