🥃 Tullamore Dew XO Caribbean Rum Cask Finish
Line of the Tullamore Dew brand: the same triple blend finished in Caribbean rum casks; 43% ABV; no age statement.
Tullamore Dew XO Caribbean Rum Cask Finish is a line of the Tullamore Dew brand: the usual triple blend of pot still, malt and grain whiskey with an additional finish in former rum casks. The strength is 43% ABV, and the label carries no age statement.
According to Whisky For Everyone, the blend completes its maturation in casks that held Demerara rum from the Caribbean. Whisky Saga refers to first-fill casks. The sources differ on the order of the casks, so we state only the fact of the finish. A November 2019 review noted that the line was first sold in the United Kingdom.
Why this matters to you. This is the same blend as Original but with a rum accent and a higher strength. The XO here refers to the casks, not an age. According to Whisky Saga, the rum accent gives a sweeter, tropical profile. Compare it with the base line. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
