ALB-GOLD

ALB-GOLD is a family-owned pasta maker based in Trochtelfingen on the Swabian Jura, south of Stuttgart (Baden-Württemberg, Germany). According to the company, it grew out of a poultry farm selling eggs directly, which Franz Freidler founded just outside Trochtelfingen in 1968. Today the business is run by the third generation: Irmgard Freidler and her sons Oliver and André.

ALB-GOLD produces both dry and fresh pasta. Its website says it makes fresh Spätzle, Knöpfle, Maultaschen and Schupfnudeln as well as classic Italian shapes, rolled noodles and scraped, dried Spätzle. Its online shop lists egg pasta, organic durum wheat pasta, organic spelt pasta, organic Kid's Pasta and gluten-free pasta. According to the producer, its Eiernudeln contain 10% egg and are made in Trochtelfingen with free-range eggs and durum wheat from German farming.

Organic products make up about a third of the range. According to the company, ALB-GOLD was in 2009 the first food maker allowed to use the national "Ohne Gentechnik" (without genetic engineering) label. The company's brands also include DINKEL MAX and Seitz glutenfrei. As an alternative to plastic bags, pasta is also offered in paper packaging; the bag is uncoated and can go into paper recycling. Next to the plant is the customer centre with a country shop (Landmarkt), the Sonne restaurant and a herb garden (Naturgarten).
