The famous sweet sparkling wine of Piedmont from white Muscat.

Asti is a famous sweet sparkling wine from Piedmont in Italy. It is made from white Muscat, the grape Muscat Blanc. The name is protected as a designation of origin (PDO) and is tied to the town of Asti. Asti is light. It has little alcohol, usually about 7 to 9 percent, and a lot of sugar. The taste is bright and aromatic, with notes of peach, grape and acacia flowers. It becomes sparkling because fermentation takes place in a closed tank and is then stopped, keeping the sweetness. The same zone also makes the less sparkling Moscato d'Asti. Asti belongs to the white sparkling sweet wines and is served chilled. It is one of the first wines tried by people getting to know sparkling wines. It is drunk with desserts, fruit and dry biscuits. It is best served in a small glass. Thanks to its low strength, Asti feels softer than many other sparkling wines, but it still contains alcohol and should be drunk in moderation.
