🥃 Galliano Espresso
Galliano coffee line made from dark-roasted Arabica and Robusta; 30% ABV per Difford's Guide.
Galliano Espresso is the coffee line of the Galliano brand. The producer describes it as a strong, intense espresso liqueur, drunk on its own after a meal or added to coffee cocktails. According to Difford's Guide, its strength is 30% ABV. It is a bitter chocolate-and-nut liqueur without herbal character, dark brown in colour.
Production. According to the brand's website, the liqueur is made from two varieties of dark-roasted coffee: roughly 55% Arabica from Colombia and Brazil and 45% Robusta from India and Kenya. The producer does not name other ingredients. According to Difford's Guide, the liqueur appeared in 2009 as Galliano Ristretto and was renamed Espresso in 2022.
Why this matters to you. Espresso is Galliano's only coffee line; unlike L'Autentico and Vanilla, it has a bitter chocolate-and-nut taste. Do not confuse it with the former name Ristretto, and check the percentage on the label. The liqueur contains alcohol and sugar, and coffee does not cancel out the effects of alcohol. The WHO reminds us that no level of alcohol is safe.
