🥃 Galliano L'Autentico
The original and main Galliano line: an herbal-vanilla liqueur with anise and mint, 42.3% ABV.
Galliano L'Autentico is the original and main line of the Galliano brand: an Italian herbal-vanilla liqueur at 42.3% ABV. According to the producer, it is rich and complex, has a bright golden colour with greenish highlights, and its taste leads with anise and mint. This is the brand's classic recipe.
Production. According to the brand, the liqueur is made through several macerations and distillations, and the finished drink is blended from nine components; the exact recipe is kept secret. Named ingredients include juniper, clove, cardamom, sandalwood, star anise, cinnamon, sage, thyme, mint, lavender and Madagascan vanilla. According to Difford's Guide, the colour comes from caramel and tartrazine.
Why this matters to you. L'Autentico is the reference point for the whole Galliano range: Vanilla is weaker and sweeter, L'Aperitivo is bitter, Espresso is coffee-flavoured and Amaretto is almond. Check the name and strength on the label, since old bottles may have been 30 or 35%. The WHO reminds us that no level of alcohol is safe.
